Computer Shiksha’s strength as an organization lies in its ability to manage people, process and technology. In our dream to bridge the digital divide in our country we intend catering to all sections of our society which are not computer literate. We have started at the bottom of the pyramid by enabling those who have the least hope of getting computer literate in the near future.

Our Work

Salient Features of our methodology

Partnership with NGOs

We partner with other NGOs already running educational establishments for communities or municipal schools, to take computer education to their doorsteps. We deliver computer lessons to children from Nursery upwards and train them on using computers. The lessons are delivered at the school site itself.

Modular courseware

All students attend two classes a week (each of 45 minutes). Each Module is of 6 weeks (45 minutes x 2 x 6 = 9 hours). The first lesson each week is a refresher of the past week and introduction to some new concepts. The next day each student is given the opportunity to practice what she has learnt till the previous day. On the completion of each Module an Assessment is conducted based on which either the student moves on to the next module or repeats the module.

Our Computer Literacy programme spread over 70 weeks covers the following. All learning is largely practical in nature.

  • Learning Uses and Parts of a computer
  • Computer Start Up and Shut Down
  • Using the Keyboard
  • Using the mouse / touch pad
  • Using Paint to draw
  • Naming and organizing files
  • Text processing & formatting
  • Using spreadsheets as database and calculator
  • Presentation Skills
  • Internet applications for browsing & searching
  • E-mails
